A letter to an Advice Column II

Dear Helpful Harry,

Last weekend my parents had planned to go on holiday to the beach, but I had my best friend's birthday party so I wasn't able to go. They decided to go out only with my brother and left me alone at home.

The day after my family left my best friend phoned and told me that she couldn’t celebrate her party at her home. She asked me if I minded to do it at at my house. I trusted in her when she explained that there were only a few friends invited.

The party day it came to my house a lot of people. When it finished and all people had gone, my house was dirty and messy. I felt angry and frustrated with all my friends and my best friend’s friends because I had to organise and tide my whole house by myself. In that moment I saw my mother’s favourite sculpture broken on the floor. I couldn’t believe it. I felt terrible guilty. I shouldn’t have lent my house, but I couldn’t go back.

Now I’m wondering if I should tell to my mother that horrible accident or if I should keep silence about it. Can you give me some advice, please?

The toaster II

The Toaster

People have toasted bread for thousands of years. Hundreds of years ago, people have made toast as a way of prolonging the life of bread, also to improve its taste. Before there were electric toasters, people toasted bread on open fires. But with this method the bread sometimes got burnt. Step by step, toasters were changed and in 1893, an Englishman called Rookes Evelyn Bell Crompton invented the electric toaster. This only toasted one side of the bread. Eventually this toaster was redesigned and finally Peter Rayburn invented the one that toasted both sides of the bread. John Lackstone in help with Rayburn created many different designs for those toasters to make them more pleasing to the eyes. beautiful at the sight.

My son wants a new mobile phone, but I don’t know anything about phones, Can you tell me some advantages and disadvantages about them?

Well, this is not an easy question. In my opinion everything has a bright and a dark side.
Mobile phones are very useful if you go out and you want to talk to people. Also if you are bored you can play many different games. Nowadays mobile phones are useful for everything: if you are lost you can use your phone to find the way to follow.

What’s more, if you have “Whatsapp” you can chat with your friends in a cheaper way and at the moment.

On the other hand, mobile phones have got disadvantages, too. It’s because mobile phones can create dependence and addiction that means that you can’t live without your mobile phone when you has accustomed to do everything with it.

Furthermore, mobile phones are bad for livings beings because they produce a lot of radiations that injure the electromagnetic balance of our body and reduce our natural defences.
Like everything, mobile phones are good if you don’t abuse of it, so be careful and use it only if it’s necessary.

E-mail about a visit to Seville

Hi Sam,

Next week it’s Easter and we’re all waiting your coming. I’m sure it’ll be exaiting. On Saturday morning we’re being at the airport to meet you, and then, we’re having lunch in a very famous bar here in Sevilla Este, “El menta”. On Sunday we can visit the centre’s monuments and, also, see the “Borriquita” procession.

On Monday, my brother Arturo has an important basketball match and we’re going to support him. On Tuesday, my father is going to take us to the centre to watch the processions. We’re doing it on Wednesday too.

On Thursday we’re having rest at home because that night we’re going to see the “madrugá”, that are famous night processions. At last, on Friday, we’re watching a film at Zona Este and then, we’re having lunch at the park next to my house, where there is a beautiful and peaceful lake.

I can’t wait to see you. I hope you’ll love this visit.

Kisses

Mary.
